LICENSE OFFICE:

Marriage License Qualifications:

Do not have to be a resident of Pike County or Alabama

If over 18 need one of the following pieces of identification:

Driver's License with Social Security Number listed on license
Certified Birth Certificate and Social Security Card

If under 18 years old:
- Need State Certified Copy of Birth Certificate
- Both parentsmust be present with identification or if legal guardian must have court order plus identification. Both parents are required even in cases of Divorce/Custody

NO blood test are required
Fees
$40.00 for Marriage License ONLY
$50.00 for Marriage License, Ceremony and 1 Certified Copy
Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
If divorced, neither party shall contract marriage, except with each other, until sixty days after the date of the final decree

Drivers License:

Driver's License Issue Fee: $20.00 valid for 4 years
Learner's Licenses: $20.00 valid for 4 years. When person passes the driving exam there is no charge for the first drivers license if it has been within 4 years.
State I.D.: $20.00 for 8 years
Duplicates:1st duplicates for driver's license, learner license, and state ID's are $5.00 each additional copy will be $15.00. To obtain a duplicate you must have 2 (two) forms of identification (example: State Certified Birth Certificate, Military ID, passport, Social Security card,school identification or records etc)

Boat (Vessel)License:

Mandatory by state law every person, age 12 and older, who operates a motorized vessel on public waterways must have an operators certification. All applicants must either take a written exam at their local driver examination office, or provide a certification when presenting to their local drivers examination office.
All persons who are 40 years old or older as of April 28, 1994, are required to be certified but do not have to pass an examination. For additional information please call 334.566.1246 or visit the Alabama Boating License Information site.

Business/Privilege License:

A License to operate any business in Pike County can be issued through the Probate Judges Office. Due to the different variety of licenses and prices that apply please call to obtain additional information 334.566.1246

Hunting/Fishing License:

Alabama Residents from the ages of 16-64 must have a Hunting/Fishing license to hunt or fish on either public or private property in the State of Alabama. Residents of Alabama that are 65 or older are not required to purchase a hunting or fishing license as long as they have proper identification proving their age. NOTE: Anyone born on or after August 1, 1977 must have a Hunter Education Identification number. MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICE (Tag and Title Options):

Car Tag Options:
   All passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers are to be tagged in the State of Alabama.

Basic Tag Cost:
  $24.25 issue fee along with any other fees that may be applicable including ad valorem taxes, sales taxes, etc.   New Owners have 10 days to register or transfer registration. Please visit the Alabama Regular and Specialty Tag Options site for tag options and additional information

Military Tags:
  If you are in the military and applying for a tag you will need the following

A copy of your Military Orders.
Call 334.566.1246 to obtain the amount of your registration fees.
A letter from the owner of the car requesting renewal of Tags and that we may mail the tags to the appropriate address. Please include in this letter a contact name, current address and phone number. So that if there are any questions you may be contacted.

Out of State Title:
New Residents have 30 days to register your vehicle. In order to change a title the following
documents are needed:

The vehicle will need to be brought to the office for inspection if brought in from out of state.
The title and bill of sale.
The person the vehicle is registered.

Out of State Title with a Lien:
All of the above plus the following:

You must bring vehicle to the Pike County Courthouse for inspection when making application for your title.
A copy of the title may be used or a faxed copy from the lien.
All loan account information such as account number, date and address of lien holder.
If the vehicle is purchased from an individual or from out of State sales tax will be collected transfer the tag and title into your name. You have ten days to make this transaction shown as follows:
- State 2%
- County 0.5%
- City 0.5%
